The PEDIGREE® brand has launched the FOSTERVERSE™ program. It’s a first-of-its-kind initiative to combat pet homelessness and support adoptable dogs in real life. 

This innovative program allows users to virtually foster real-life rescue dogs in the Metaverse. Which makes it easier for people to support and adopt animals in need.

The Campaign–To Find Home for Adoptable Dogs 

The FOSTERVERSE program is proudly part of the Mars family of brands and is the brainchild of the PEDIGREE® brand. PEDIGREE Foundation also supports the campaign, a non-profit organization committed to ending pet homelessness.

To participate in the FOSTERVERSE program, Decentraland property owners upload 3D avatars. It is based on real-life dogs listed on Adopt a Pet in their virtual land.

Whether they own property in Decentraland, dog lovers can interact virtually with the dogs they meet. Also, learn about their backgrounds and adoption status.

Users can choose to adopt a dog they meet through Adopt a Pet or donate to the PEDIGREE Foundation to help similar adoptable pets in need.

The primary purpose of the FOSTERVERSE program is to bring attention to the issue of pet homelessness. At the same time, it helps find new homes for adoptable dogs.

By allowing users to virtually foster real-life rescue dogs in the Metaverse, the program makes it easier for people to support these animals and find new homes.

How Did the Campaign Perform?

The campaign results are still to be seen, but the program has already received positive feedback and support. The PEDIGREE brand takes pride in leading this new virtual reality, supporting its ambition to end pet homelessness. 

To further the program’s mission, the PEDIGREE brand will match up to $100,000 in donations to support the PEDIGREE Foundation through its annual grant program. It will help to fund foster programming grants for shelters and rescues across the country.

According to a recent report from Shelter Animals Count, more animals are staying in shelters now than before the pandemic, and just over half (53%) of dogs in shelters are already adopted.
